when it's the story of a lifetime, partner with an editor and do it justice

books

A great book editor doesn't just fix grammar mistakes; they trim, rephrase, check facts, and get your manuscript in the best possible shape before it goes off to the publisher.

But I'm not just an editor, I'm also a rewriter and ghostwriter. From single sentences to entire books, I'll match your tone so precisely that they'll never know it wasn't you.

copy check

explained

When it comes to editing, a copy check is the lightest touch. Even so, this is a big step up from basic proofreading.

A copy check fixes general spelling and grammar issues, but it also tackles the kind of continuity errors and formatting mistakes that a proofreader won't touch.

This is a great service for experienced writers who want to add polish to their work, but if you sense your manuscript needs more, a classic edit is the next step.

classic edit

explained

You've written your book, now it's time to polish the gem. But how does an editor go about the task?

A skilled editor doesn't just fix spelling and grammar mistakes; they take an overview of your writing and story, then trim and reorganise it to help it shine. For your book to be taken seriously, an editor's pass is essential.

Even the most famous and experienced writers use them because their keen eye for detail improves the reader's perception of the finished piece. The process can be as collaborative as you like; we'll simply tweak it to suit your needs.

But what if your writing is really rough around the edges? That's where rewriting comes in handy.

rewriting

explained

Everyone deserves to tell their story, but when you aren't a trained writer, it pays to have a little help.

I specialise in polishing the work of rough-diamond writers, but what does that mean exactly? Well, it means that in addition to editing the book, I will rewrite sentences and paragraphs if the original words don't quite hit the mark.

And whenever I rewrite something, it will always be in your tone of voice, so your readers will never know I stepped in to help. I have performed this service for numerous writers, and all of them were delighted with the results. You will be too.

Very few editors are able to offer this service, but it's one of the many reasons that it pays to work with me. And if your book could use some extra material, we can organise some interviews, and I can write it up for you in your tone of voice.

But what if you have a great idea for a book or memoir but don't have the time or ability to write the damn thing. That's where a ghostwriter (quietly) enters.

ghostwriting

explained

Ghostwriting is a vital part of the publishing world. Without it, celebrity autobiographies wouldn't exist. But celebs aren't the only ones who get to have their book written for them. If you're pressed for time or you're just not sure you could sit down and write a whole book, get a ghostwriter on your side.

How does it work? However you like. We can conduct a series of interviews to gather stories, or you can send your notes and ideas over to be written up.

This service isn't just for biographies and memoirs. In the last few years, I have written several fiction novels (some I can talk about, some I can't). And if you've got an idea for a children's book but don't know where to begin, I'll help with the hard part.

The process can be as collaborative as you like; it's your book after all. The ultimate goal is to get that book out of your head and onto the page. Ready to begin?
